Mid-season testing has been completed at the Silverstone circuit following the British Grand Prix this past weekend, with McLaren leading the first day. Alonso was one of two drivers to complete over 100 laps, the other being Esteban Ocon in the Mercedes. There was one odd red flag moment in the morning when high winds knocked a piece of wood loose from the starting gantry, which fell onto the track, but thankfully no cars were near the incident.

Kimi Räikkönen was fastest on the second day, with a few more teams completing over 100 laps. Red Bull had wiring issues on Tuesday but completed 103 laps with Pierre Gasly on Wednesday. Jolyon Palmer was running a new suspension for Renault but stopped out on track just at the end of the second day’s session.

Plenty of reserve and young drivers were given opportunities over the two days, including Esteban Ocon and Wehrlein driving for Mercedes, Alex Lynn in at Williams, and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari having participated in FP1 at the weekend for Haas.
