This is F1Minute - Toro Rosso set to keep both Ricciardo and Vergne for 2013.
The driver news for 2013 is starting to pour in now, with Toro Rosso confirming they will keep their existing line up for next year - signing both Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne for another season.
Team principal Franz Tost explained the signing, saying: “Both drivers have done a good job this season... Since the summer break, both drivers have scored more points and everyone has been impressed with their maturity in terms o f working with the engineers and their racecraft on track.”
Meanwhile, the two drivers themselves had differing reactions. Ricciardo said he was “pumped” to be working with the team for another year, whilst Vergne added: “It has been a difficult season and, as a rookie, I have learned a lot. I feel much stronger now and know I have become a better driver.”
All are looking forward to next year, and presumably hoping for improvement. They currently sit ninth in the constructors’ championship with 21 points - the lowest points-scoring team of the year so far.
