Welcome to F1Minute - Timo Glock cleared to race in Valencia if he’s medically fit.

Timo Glock has been battling a stomach bug throughout the weekend so far, which saw him miss qualifying in Valencia altogether. The German driver had limited participation in first practice on Friday, but felt better after a sleep between the two sessions and managed to complete 21 laps in the afternoon.

He was feeling slightly better on Saturday morning but after an hour sitting in the car during final practice and completing 16 laps, he was not well again. The team issued a statement saying: “It is clear that at this time, he is not sufficiently well to take part in a demanding qualifying session and needs to recuperate further. Timo and the team will now seek further medical guidance.”

Although it is still uncertain whether he will be ready to race or not, the stewards have given him special dispensation to be in the Grand Prix despite not participating in qualifying at all. The only caveat is that he has to be passed as fit by the FIA Medical Delegate on Sunday morning.
