Welcome to F1Minute - Team Lotus confirm Caterham rebrand and Steve Nielsen’s arrival.

A joint statement from Group Lotus, Proton and Tony Fernandes has seen the bitter rivalry between Group Lotus and Team Lotus finally come to an end. They have reached an amicable settlement and announced that the outfit currently known as Team Lotus will be renamed Caterham F1 Team from next season. We already knew that they were going to be calling their chassis a Caterham, but now the name is official as well.

CEO of Group Lotus Dany Behar has said: “We understand that this has been a very difficult and confusing time for the fans of the sport... so we are glad to have reached a clear resolution... I would like to take this opportunity to thank our fans for their continued support. It means everything to us.”

Meanwhile, Team Lotus and/or Caterham have announced the arrival of Steve Nielsen who will join them as sporting director before the end of the year. Tony Fernandes admitted that he offered the job to Steve way back in September 2010, but Nielsen stayed with Renault until earlier this season.
