It’s the 27th May 2011 and this is F1Minute.

The Lotus versus Lotus court case came to a conclusion today, with the judge’s ruling leading both parties to claim they had won. Team Lotus have been granted permission to use the Team Lotus name in Formula One - which is what they wanted more than anything else - whilst Group Lotus were confirmed as owners of the Lotus brand, and the black and gold livery.

Group Lotus released a statement saying they were pleased with the result, but included their intention to appeal the Team Lotus decision. The statement read: “Group Lotus is concerned that this aspect of the Judgment will cause confusion in the eyes of spectators and the wider public. Accordingly, Group Lotus is seeking leave to appeal so that the right to use the Lotus brand in Formula 1 is clarified once and for all in the interests of the sport and the fans.”

Ultimately, for now, nothing has changed. Team Lotus are still Team Lotus, and they are still green and yellow and Renault are still called Renault and they are still black and gold.
