Williams have recruited former Toro Rosso Sporting Manager Steve Nielsen for the same role, starting with immediate effect. Nielsen has a long history with Formula One, working for Honda, Tyrrell, Caterham and more, including time spent working alongside current Williams CTO, Pat Symonds at Renault.
Pat says: “Steve brings a wealth of experience of the sporting side of Formula One and will help us as a team as we aim to climb further up the Championship table.” And Steve adds: “In this role I will be able to help ensure that our operations at the race track are maintaining the highest standards and that we are maximising our performance at the race track from a sporting perspective.”
The team continue to bolster their commercial partnerships as well, with a deal with Unilever announced at the end of November, and a new technology partnership with Avanade at the start of December. The aim of this deal is to “develop a suite of tools to ensure the team fully optimises its new enterprise platform.”
