The Williams F1 team announcements have continued to pour in thick and fast, with the most recent confirmation of some new faces in their engineering department.
Rob Smedley joins the team fresh from Ferrari, to take up the newly created Head of Vehicle Performance position, which will involve him working both at the track and at the factory to improve the car setup and functions throughout the season.
The team also confirmed Felipe Massa’s race engineer will be Andrew Murdoch, as Jonathan Eddolls continues with Valtteri Bottas. Smedley, of course, rose to fame as Massa’s race engineer at Ferrari, the pair developing a hugely successful and close relationship, to the point they were sometimes described as a married couple. With Massa moving to Williams, it had been anticipated Smedley would follow but the new position is a promotion for the former race engineer.
Meanwhile, the team also confirmed Suzie Wolff will continue for another year as development driver, and will get two Friday practice opportunities during the 2014 season.
