Welcome to F1Minute - Renault Sport Director joins Caterham as CEO.
The Caterham F1 team have announced today that Cyril Abiteboul will be joining them as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Abiteboul is the current Deputy Managing Director of F1 at Renault Sport and his new team say he will split his time between his new job at Caterham and his existing work at Renault to ensure he can finalise all his current projects satisfactorily by January 2013.
Talking of the new role, Abiteboul says: “The vision, enthusiasm and appetite of the shareholders and the whole team will be very precious strengths to help us tackle the many challenges we have ahead as we continue to develop the F1 platform and hopefully make our way up through the grid.”
Meanwhile, Chairman of Caterham Tony Fernandes says: “Cyril will also strengthen the excellent relationship that we have with Renault, particularly as we work towards the introduction of the new engine regulations in 2014.”
