This is F1Minute - Pole position in Valencia turns to race victory for Sebastian Vettel.
Sebastian Vettel took another convincing win in the European Grand Prix today, after leading from the front. He secured the hat trick of pole position, fastest lap and race win, and was joined on the podium by Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.
Lewis Hamilton had a bad start which dropped him back, and he and teammate Jenson Button found themselves scrabbling for the best positions just off the podium. Michael Schumacher came out of the pitlane and crashed into Vitaly Petrov, losing his front wing and sending him right back to the pitlane again. The extra stop dropped him way down the order and he finished the race 17th, compared to Nico Rosberg’s 7th.
Sergio Pérez was the only driver one-stopping, most others found a three stop strategy favourable. It didn’t work wonders but he did improve from 16th to 11th, just missing out on some points. Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari made a massive step forward. He qualified 18th but two stopped his way to 8th place.
