This is F1Minute - Pirelli confirm tyre compounds for three more races.
It’s the summer break and the team factories are closed for a fortnight for an enforced holiday, but tyre supplier Pirelli have taken the opportunity to confirm which compounds they will bring to the next three rounds of the 2011 season.
The soft and medium compounds will be in use at the next race in Belgium, plus the following Grand Prix in Italy, whilst the Singapore weekend will feature softs and supersofts. Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says of the choices: “We’ve got three of the most thrilling races on the entire calendar coming up, and we believe that we’ve arrived at some tyre nominations that are very well-suited to the characteristics of these very different but equally exciting circuits.”
Ferrari will be keeping a close eye on which compounds are in use, as the team have highlighted getting the tyres up to temperature in colder conditions as one of their weaknesses.
Team Principal Stefano Domenicali says: “This is affecting our performance, above all when we have to warm up the tyres in the crucial laps. For sure the hot [temperatures] will come, and we need to make sure that we are pushing the development of the car.”
