This is F1Minute - Pirelli confirm final three sets of tyre compounds for 2012.
F1’s tyre supplier Pirelli have announced which compounds they will be bringing to the final three races of the year, with Abu Dhabi, the US and season-finale Brazil all covered.
At Yas Marina, the teams will choose between the medium and soft tyres, hoping to cover the fact that the late afternoon start will have lower temperatures than you would otherwise expect.
The brand new circuit at Austin is an unknown, but Pirelli have done extensive simulation work and have opted for the hard and medium compounds. Pirelli say: “During a recent visit, our engineers established that significant energy loads will be put through the tyres. High temperatures are also expected.” The final race in Brazil will also feature the hard and medium compounds.
Pirelli are also looking further ahead to next year, and have confirmed they’ll be altering all the tyres, with Paul Hembery saying: “We are looking at the profiles and structures, which I think will give the greater challenge to the teams, because it will influence the aerodynamic performance heavily.”
