This is F1Minute - Pirelli bolster test driver line up for 2012.
Pirelli have confirmed Jaime Alguersuari as one of their test drivers for the coming season, joining Lucas di Grassi who is retained from 2011. Alguersuari already has a job commentating on BBC Radio 5live during race weekends, but the Spanish driver has made no secret of his desire to return to driving as soon as possible.
Speaking about the deal, he said: “A week ago it was my birthday, when I turned 22, and now Pirelli has given me the best possible present.” He continued: “I can’t wait to get started with this very important and challenging job of developing the new tyres for the future, which I’m looking forward to a lot.”
Meanwhile, Di Grassi is glad to continue his association with the sport, saying: “Just driving a car for so much mileage per year is good preparation in case there is an opportunity in F1.”
Pirelli have their two drivers, along with the Renault chassis from 2010 to update their test machinery, so now they can really get down to business.
