Welcome to F1Minute - Pastor Maldonado and Sebastian Vettel lead Friday practice in Valencia.

First practice saw Pastor Maldonado in the Williams do battle with the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg for the top spot, although the German gradually fell down the order to finish behind his teammate. Pastor finished top with both Red Bull drivers next, Sebastian Vettel ahead of Mark Webber.

Meanwhile Jenson Button made a better start to his weekend, finishing this first session fourth, whilst two reserve drivers were granted some seat time - Jules Bianchi for Force India, and Valtteri Bottas for Williams.

Sebastian Vettel took over the top spot for the second session in Valencia, leading Nico Hülkenberg and Kamui Kobayashi. Michael Schumacher posted the fastest time part way through, but had to settle for fourth fastest overall. Pedro de la Rosa crashed his HRT into the barriers in what looked like a heavy collision, but he clamboured from the car okay.

The McLaren duo concentrated on race setup, settling for midfield times, whilst Bruno Senna returned to action after handing over his car to Bottas earlier - and he ended the day in fifth.
