Welcome to F1Minute - Pastor Maldonado given ten place grid penalty after FP3.

Pastor Maldonado was handed a ten place grid penalty for wherever he qualified for the Monaco Grand Prix, after a bizarre incident in the third and final practice session. As the hour was drawing to a close, the Williams driver rounded a corner to find Sergio Pérez slowing and moving off line - presumably to allow Maldonado past.

However, as Pastor moved alongside the Sauber car, he turned in, crashing into the side of the Mexican. The session was brought to an abrupt end two minutes early with a red flag, and no more running took place. The Williams car was lifted away by crane with damage to the rear.

In qualifying, Maldonado finished ninth, which would drop him back to nineteenth place, but Williams are investigating damage to the gearbox would could mean a further five place penalty. Pastor will drop to the very back of the grid if they do change the gearbox.

Mark Gillan has said: "There was a significant amount of damage to the car, so the guys did a really good job to even get it out for qualifying... it’s disappointing, but it’s still good that we are disappointed because the pace is definitely there.”
