Welcome to F1Minute - Pastor Maldonado fined for British GP accident.
During the British Grand Prix, Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Pérez crashed after the Sauber tried to go round the outside of the Williams to overtake. Maldonado left little room for Pérez and the resulting collision and spin saw the Sauber driver retire from the race. Pastor himself was knocked way down the order, although he continued to the chequered flag.
Talking to the media as the race continued without him, Pérez hit out at his fellow driver’s attitude, saying: “Everybody has concerns about him. He's a driver that doesn't respect, doesn't know that we are risking our lives... I think the stewards really have to do something by now.”
Maldonado has been involved in a previous incident with Pérez and Lewis Hamilton. The stewards investigated this particular crash after the race had finished, and handed Maldonado a 10,000 Euro fine along with a reprimand. For his part, the Venezuelan is unapologetic: “I have the team’s support because they have the data and when we went to the stewards it is very clear that I lost the car. I think I have been unlucky.”
