With just one day of testing left, the teams were glad to see more sunshine over the Circuit de Catalunya. As on previous days, it was a fight for fast laps in the morning, with longer fuel runs in the afternoon. Nico Rosberg set the fastest time, pipping Fernando Alonso to the top spot by three tenths of a second.
Kimi Räikkönen returned to action after being out sick yesterday, but he was kept in the garage due to a gearbox problem for much of the morning. Where the top four on the timesheets completed over 100 laps each, Kimi had to settle for 50.
Sebastian Vettel finished the day ninth overall, and appeared disappointed. He said: “We didn’t tick all the boxes that we would have liked to and the last two days were not as good as we would have expected... If you sum up the whole three tests, we were all limited to what the tyres could do.”
Amazingly, there were no red flags throughout the session leaving all the teams with a clean final day before they pack up and concentrate on moving everything to Australia.
