Welcome to F1Minute - Nico Rosberg fined after Free Practice 2 incident.

During the second practice session in Korea today, Nico Rosberg and Jaime Alguersuari came together at the pit exit. The Toro Rosso was just joining the circuit, as Rosberg came round ready to take the next corner in his Mercedes.

There has always been some concern over the layout of the pit exit, as it feeds directly into the first corner at the end of the main straight. It’s not quite the racing line, but it only takes a lock-up, as Rosberg did, and an accident is inevitable. Rosberg had front wing damage, and Alguersuari also spent some enforced time in the garage.

Afterwards, Rosberg spoke to the media, and said: “It would be worth reconsidering if the pit exit couldn’t be done a little differently. It was not great circumstances... he came out at the exact wrong moment.”

Speaking to the press made Rosberg late for a visit to the stewards, who reviewed all the information at their disposal and decided not to hand out a penalty for the incident. However, they did fine Nico 10,000 Euros for being late to see them. Half of the fine is suspended for 12 months.
