Hello and welcome to F1Minute - Canada Free Practice Roundup.
The first free practice session was dominated by Sebastian Vettel, but not in a way the German would want. Red Bull could only sit back and watch as Vettel crashed into the Wall of Champions, causing a red flag. Vettel had only completed eight laps, and finished way down in 16th. Meanwhile, that left the door open for Nico Rosberg to put in the fastest time, with Michael Schumacher third - a strong performance for Mercedes. Fernando Alonso was sandwiched between the two.
In Free Practice 2, there were even more crashes to behold, as first Kamui Kobayashi lost control, causing a red flag. Then Jérôme D’Ambrosio crashed at the exact same place, resulting in another stoppage. Force India’s Adrian Sutil also damaged the front suspension of the car by meeting with the wall at turn 7. Fernando Alonso posted the fastest time, with Vettel improving on his earlier time by finishing second - three tenths off the Ferrari. Felipe Massa ended the day third overall.
