Force India have announced a multi-year deal with German driver Nico Hülkenberg, seeing the racer return to the team after one year with Sauber. Hülkenberg drove for Force India in both 2011 and 2012, but moved to the Swiss team for this past season.
Despite hoping for a seat at a top team, Nico still professes to be content with his new position. He says: “The team is aiming high for next year and I believe that the experience I have gained over the years will help us achieve those goals.”
Team principal Vijay Mallya is happy to have the German back on board, particularly as it’s a deal for more than one season. He says: “When he drove for us in 2012, it became clear Nico was an exceptional talent and he has continued to impress everyone in the paddock with his strong performances this season. Having Nico in our line-up is a real statement of intent and a huge boost for everyone associated with the team.”
There is no news on who Hülkenberg’s teammate for the 2014 season will be, although if it’s anything like last year, we’ll have to wait until February before we find out.
