Welcome to F1Minute - Narain Karthikeyan penalised for Vettel collision.
Narain Karthikeyan has been handed a post-race drive through penalty for the accident with Sebastian Vettel during the Malaysian Grand Prix. The HRT driver found himself in two high profile accidents after coming together with both Vettel and Jenson Button earlier in the race.
Button has admitted fault for the first accident, saying: “I hit the brakes, I lost the rear. I was struggling to get the car slowed down. I tried to get around the corner but I couldn’t do anything but hit him really.” Button had to pit for a new front wing and spent the rest of the race near the back of the field.
Karthikeyan spoke of the second issue with Vettel: “I was letting everyone through on blue flags because I was being told on the radio. I got on the white line, which was still damp, and I was on slicks obviously so I had a lot of wheelspin. I then had to come back on the track from the kerb, and he was there unfortunately and I could not do anything.”
He also admits the penalty is harsh as some of the drivers passing by can just push you out the way.
