Welcome to F1Minute - Michael Waltrip Racing sues Coughlan and Williams.

The NASCAR team Michael Waltrip Racing have filed a lawsuit against Williams F1 and Mike Coughlan, claiming $75,000 damages due to breach of contract. Williams confirmed the appointment of Coughlan in May, with a reshuffle of their engineering department, and the former McLaren employee started his new role last month.

However, MWR claim that he had a contract with them until the end of November 2012 and they do not accept his early termination. Autosport reports that the lawsuit reads: "As a result of Coughlan's premature departure, MWR will face and incur many certain and substantial damages, including the costs of searching for, recruiting, negotiating with, hiring and training a replacement for Coughlan, not to mention the expenses MWR devoted to Coughlan's employment, the benefits of which will go unrealised.”

The papers have been filed with federal courts in the Western District North Carolina. There’s been no word from Williams on the matter, as yet.
