Mercedes revealed their brand new car to an expectant public today, lifting the covers off the F1 W04 in Jerez ahead of the first pre-season test which starts tomorrow. Both drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton were present and correct as the car was unveiled.
It featured prominent Blackberry logos - as the team announced a deal with the telecommunications company at the same time. The car also features the modesty panel over the stepped nose, an improved front wing, as well as a second-generation Coander exhaust at the back.
Team Principal Ross Brawn spoke of the new machinery with pride, saying: “The restructuring we undertook at the team over the past 18 months are now growing in maturity and this is reflected in the F1 W04, which is a clear step forward in design and detail sophistication over its predecessor.”
Rosberg was first behind the wheel for some morning laps at Jerez, whilst Lewis Hamilton took his turn in the car for the first time in the afternoon.
