Welcome to F1Minute - McLaren gain new partner in GlaxoSmithKline.

GlaxoSmithKline - the consumer healthcare giant - have teamed up with McLaren Group for a five year partnership. The two companies issued a joint statement, which claimed that it was not your normal sponsor and technical partnership deal, but “more specific, dynamic and game-changing than that.”

GlaxoSmithKline want to learn from the efficient way in which McLaren go about their business, specifically in terms of decision-making and manufacturing processes.

Chairman of McLaren Group Ron Dennis said: “Our intention is that GSK will harness McLaren’s world-beating Formula 1-bred technology, processes and operation dynamism, in order to enhance its performance across a wide variety of divisions.”

GSK can learn from McLaren’s never-say-die attitude, with Jenson Button admitting that the championship is over, but it’s still going to be fun, he said: “We’re still going to have amazing racing, like it has been in the last few races. Whatever we do, because we are racers, competitive, be it driving in F1, karting or triathlons, you want to win.”
