Welcome to F1Minute for the 10th February 2011.
The second of the pre-season tests got underway today in Jerez, with Felipe Massa topping the timesheets for Ferrari, closely followed by Sergio Pérez in the Sauber, and Mark Webber in the Red Bull. At the opposite end, Williams had a very rough day with Pastor Maldonado only able to complete 14 laps due to problems with the adjustable rear wing. Pastor could only undertake a couple of short runs throughout the day, and finished up 14 seconds off the pace.
Technical director for the team, Sam Michael, said: “It has not been a productive day for us, I’m afraid. After the installation lap we had a problem with a bleed screw for the rear wing hydraulic actuator. It is straightforward to correct, however during the day it caused a lot of downtime.”
Also out on track today, Daniel Ricciardo shared testing duties with Alguersuari for Toro Rosso, whilst Petrov was in for Renault. Nick Heidfeld will also get a chance behind the wheel this week to evaluate him as Kubica’s replacement.
