Hello there, today is the 1st December 2010, and this is F1Minute.

Finally, Williams made the announcement I think we all knew was coming - that Pastor Maldonado will be joining Rubens Barrichello for the 2011 season. Frank Williams said he has been watching Pastor for a few years now, and his GP2 title win this year was a highlight. For his part, Maldonado is happy to be joining the grid, he says: “It has been nearly 30 years since Venezuela has had a driver in Formula One so the country has been pushing young drivers in the hope of having someone represent them. I am happy to now be that driver.”

Meanwhile, the FIA released their official entry list, and there are lots of gaps, not so much at Williams now of course. There were no real surprises in the list, but notably Sauber have finally managed to drop the BMW bit of their name, whilst Lotus have listed themselves as Team Lotus. Tony Fernandes tweeted: “Well we made the call after tremendous support from public. Team Lotus it is. Sure there will be many battles ahead but Higham is pumped.”
