Welcome to F1Minute - Magny-Cours set to host young driver test in September.
The Magny-Cours circuit in France was last seen on the Formula One calendar in 2008, but is about to make a return to the F1 scene, hosting a young driver test after the Italian Grand Prix this year.
We’ve already seen one young driver test this season, as Williams, HRT and Marussia spent a couple of days at Silverstone in July. The post-season Abu Dhabi test is still there for those who choose to run there, but we know some of the teams will be at Magny Cours in September. Ferrari, Force India and Mercedes are all expected at the circuit, and the chairman of the track is excited!
Serge Saulnier said: “We have worked tirelessly to upgrade the venue, which has just been homologated to F1 standards for another four years, and I’m certain that the teams and drivers will appreciate the work that has been put in.”
He also addressed the possibility of the French Grand Prix returning to the calendar by adding that this test “will be fantastic to showcase the track and our staff’s know-how to the high-calibre F1 personnel who will be on site.”
