This is F1Minute - Ma Qing Hua set to make Friday debut in Monza.
It was not long ago we were heralding the arrival of HRT young driver Ma Qing Hua as the first Chinese driver to participate in an official Formula One event - he was present at the young driver test at Silverstone in July. Now, Qing Hua will take the next step to become the first Chinese driver to participate in a race weekend, as HRT are granting him the opportunity to take part in Free Practice 1 at Monza.
Narain Karthikeyan will sit out the first session of the Italian GP weekend, leaving Qing Hua his car to make some history with.
Speaking of the opportunity, he said: “The objective of this session is to continue advancing my programme, rack up more miles and experience at the wheel of an F1 car and help the team with whatever they need.” He also talked of being in the simulator a lot to get some practice before taking on the real practice out on track.
Team boss Luis Pérez-Sala added: “Without a doubt, this is a very important step which comes with great responsibility, but we consider that he’s prepared to take it on.”
