Confusion continues to reign over the status of this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Earlier today, the Bahrain International Circuit tried to reassure the F1 world that the race would be fine and the media are scaremongering.
They also presented some quotes from the Lotus F1 team, including this statement: “We came away from Bahrain feeling a lot more confident that everything is in hand and to be honest if it wasn't for a few more police you wouldn't know any difference from the last year we were there.”
However, Lotus have since declared that these quotes were taken from a confidential document circulated to team managers and that a) they are not trying to take the decision away from the FIA and b) they aren’t at all impressed with the BIC for taking them out of context.
The Formula One Teams’ Association have also said teams are unable to cancel the race, and that they look to the FIA for guidance on these issues.
