Welcome to F1Minute - Lotus F1 terminate title sponsor deal with Lotus.
Lotus F1 boss Gérard Lopez has revealed that the team have ended their relationship with Group Lotus, adding another chapter to the confusing Lotus comeback story.
Autosport report that Dany Behar’s Group Lotus are no longer involved with the F1 team, with Lopez explaining: “The sponsorship agreement and the obligations of Lotus have been terminated. There’s no option from Group Lotus to buy into F1 now - that option was taken over by us... We are happy to carry the Lotus name as we believe it is a good name for F1.”
Looking ahead to the race in China, team principal Éric Boullier has spoken of his tempered disappointment, saying: “From a personal viewpoint, I do feel a bit of frustration that we haven't delivered as well as we should have done. We know we can do better, and we hope to prove that in the next races. On the other hand, I'm so proud of what the team has achieved this winter that I can't help but have a little smile on my face.”
