Welcome to F1Minute, today is the 5th January 2010.

I don’t think we’ve talked much about Group Lotus and their plans to infiltrate F1 this year, although they have been making headlines just as much as Team Lotus.

At the end of 2010, Genii Capital sold a stake in Renault to Group Lotus, with a long-term partnership deal until the end of 2017. The team will be known as Lotus Renault, which is not to be confused with the existing Team Lotus. I think I already mentioned this year that the Chapmans, historical owners of the Team Lotus brand, have sided with Group Lotus now, so it remains to be seen what will happen with the team formerly known as Lotus Racing.

Anyway, the team we will still call Renault because anything else is confusing, released an image of the potential livery, which is the black and gold of old. They are unveiling the official colours at this year’s Autosport International event, although I must say, if I was there and they reveal the car and it still has red wing mirrors, I’d be asking for my money back.
