Welcome to F1Minute - Kimi Räikkönen takes first comeback win after chaotic race in Abu Dhabi.
Lewis Hamilton got a great start at the Yas Marina circuit, but all his hard work over the weekend was to be for nothing after the McLaren lost all power and trundled to a halt at the side of the track. The retirement promoted Kimi Räikkönen into the lead, and the pressure was on the Lotus driver to bring the win home.
Meanwhile, further back, Sebastian Vettel made his way up the order despite tangling with another car on the first lap and damaging his front wing. There was further damage during a safety car period, when he had to avoid a fast-braking Daniel Ricciardo. A pit stop, new nose and fresh tyres gave Vettel the pace to move up the grid ahead of Fernando Alonso, but he had to stop one more time. Despite starting from the pit lane, he still managed to finish third to Alonso’s second. The title gap is now just ten points.
Other retirements included Nico Hülkenberg on the first lap, Nico Rosberg and Narian Karthikeyan in a terrifying high speed incident, plus Mark Webber, Romain Grosjean and Charles Pic.
