Welcome to F1Minute - Jenson Button to participate in the Race of Champions.
Jenson Button has been confirmed as one of the F1 attendees at this year’s Race of Champions, which will be held in Dusseldorf on the 3rd and 4th December. McLaren are usually quite reserved when it comes to letting their drivers participate in extra-curricular activities, but Button will join reigning Nations Cup champions Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher.
RoC organiser Fredrik Johnsson commented on the last visits Button made to the competition, saying: “The last two were particularly memorable as he came to Wembley in 2008 when he didn’t know if he’d still be driving in F1 in 2009. Then, 12 months later, he returned to ROC as F1 world champion.”
Meanwhile, McLaren are gearing up for the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend, with the knowledge that they have won three of the last five races. Team principal Martin Whitmarsh said: “Time and time again, McLaren has proved its resilience and determination, particularly at this crucial stage of the world championship. We are more than ready for this fight and relishing every race.”
