This is F1Minute - Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel win Autosport Awards.
It has been a weekend of extra-curricular activities for Formula One drivers, with the Race of Champions, Felipe Massa’s charity karting event and the Autosport Awards held in London last night.
There were F1 winners aplenty at the awards, with Jenson Button securing the British Driver of the Year, and Sebastian Vettel taking the International equivalent. Red Bull’s RB7 picked up the Racing Car of the Year award, whilst Force India’s Paul di Resta was announced Rookie of the Year. There was also a mention for the movie Senna, which garnered the Pioneering & Innovation award.
Out on track, rally driver Sébastien Ogier won the Race of Champions trophy, beating off competition from Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Vitaly Petrov and Sebastian Vettel. Both Vettel and Schumacher joined forces to secure the Nations Cup, though, giving the German fans in Dusseldorf plenty to cheer about.
Meanwhile, Massa’s International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions was won by Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari, who took the victory after Ferrari’s Jules Bianchi was disqualified.
