This is F1Minute - HRT extend Williams deal including gearbox and KERS.

HRT have confirmed that their technical partnership with Williams will extend to the end of next season, and will include both gearboxes and KERS. HRT have not yet run KERS in F1, and the greater partnership should benefit their performance out on track.

Team Principal of HRT, Colin Kolles, has spoken of the potential: “At HRT we are working on thoroughly improving the performance of our cars and our target is still to finish in the top ten in 2012. This deal brings us one step closer to that objective.”

In related Williams news, the team also recently confirmed two new appointments to their board of directors and also announced that Mike Coughlan has stepped up as technical director. He was brought in as Chief Engineer in June, and has now been promoted in the wake of Sam Michael’s departure.

Sam left the team in September, but has been given special permission by Williams to join his new squad McLaren, as sporting director, for the final two races of 2011.
