Fernando Alonso got his weekend off to a terrible start, after his Ferrari slowed to a stop out on track on his very first lap in Free Practice 1. 40 minutes later, he was going again, but the same problem occurred - something wrong with the ECU. This time he got back to the garage, but he failed to set a time in the session.
Meanwhile, Mercedes were on top again, with Lewis Hamilton fastest, Nico Rosberg behind - both nearly a second faster than third place Mark Webber.
Hamilton wasn't so near the top for second practice, eventually posting the eighth fastest time. Rosberg managed second but it was Sebastian Vettel who reached the top spot, just two tenths up on his fellow German.
Adrian Sutil showed some great skills or luck as he ran massively wide, through the gravel, kept his foot in, and managed to jink back on to track just in time to miss a board marker.
Also, Jules Bianchi ran just ten laps in the afternoon, he's suffering from a stomach bug. Marussia ran Rodolfo González in FP1, in case he's required this weekend.
