Welcome to F1Minute - Hamilton pips both Red Bull drivers to pole in Abu Dhabi.
The sun was shining in Abu Dhabi, to begin with, as qualifying got underway. Jean-Éric Vergne was the driver to drop out with the usual three teams in the first session. Charles Pic managed to outqualify his teammate, and get in front of one of the Caterhams as well - Marussia look to be closing the gap once more.
The second session saw Michael Schumacher fail to improve on 14th place, after admitting he got confused with harvesting the KERS. He apologised to his team afterwards. Both Force India drivers, and both Saubers also dropped out, with Romain Grosjean just scraping through to the top ten.
Lewis Hamilton set an early P1 time in the final shootout for pole position, and as the drivers crossed the line for the final time, no one could beat it. Webber outqualified Vettel for second place, with Pastor Maldonado set to line up on the grid fourth. Fernando Alonso made a heap of work for himself by qualifying seventh to Felipe Massa’s ninth.
