You’re listening to F1Minute - Hamilton and Massa make peace as season ends.
Lewis Hamilton made the effort to visit Felipe Massa in the paddock following the season finale in Brazil this weekend, giving the Ferrari driver a brief hug and bringing their on-off rivalry to a close. The pair have clashed on track several times in 2011, and have offered harsh words to each other via the media. They hadn’t spoken directly, but now the situation has been resolved.
Afterwards, Massa said: “I never had anything against him. I always respected him even this year after everything... I think it is nice of him to come here because it was never going to come from me because I did nothing wrong during the year.”
Hamilton reiterates the respect he has for Massa and wished all the drivers a good winter. After what has been a difficult year for the McLaren driver, he’s glad to bring 2011 to a close, saying: “It’s not really a relief, it’s just that we’ve had a long, long year. I’m looking forward to a bit of down time and then just attacking next year. I’ve got lots I can improve on, but I feel it’s all positive.”
