This is F1Minute - Hamilton and Alonso look to future contracts.
Lewis Hamilton has spoken about his future with McLaren, after there was some hints from Ron Dennis in Canada that a contract renewal may see something of a difference in pay. The difficult economic situation is to blame, but either way, Hamilton has been expecting some tough contract discussions.
He says: “He was very tough when they negotiated the contract that they have now and I expect him to be the same when we go back in. But I don’t see there being many problems, to be honest.” Hamilton’s current contract ends this year, and he’s looking for a new one to begin for 2013.
Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso is secure in his seat until the end of 2016, but the second Ferrari seat is under much debate. With new rumours about a Sebastian Vettel switch, the Spaniard says: “Rumours with Ferrari are always the same. When I won the 2005 championship with Renault, I was linked to Ferrari immediately and I arrived in 2010. So, if Seb is linked now, maybe he’ll arrive in five years time!”
