This is F1Minute - Gordon Murray joins Group Lotus Advisory Council.
Well known F1 designer Gordon Murray has joined Group Lotus, to serve on their Advisory Council developing current and future project. The South African is a legendary figure in the paddock, having worked with Bernie Ecclestone at Brabham, and designed the McLaren car that Ayrton Senna won his first World Championship with. He also designed the McLaren F1 supercar before starting his own design business.
Speaking about the new appointment, Murray said: “For years I’ve been a huge admirer of Lotus. I have a great respect for the legacy that Colin Chapman created and I think what Dany and the team are doing is a really good thing for the brand.”
Meanwhile, Renault boss Éric Boullier has defended his decision to put Bruno Senna in the car at Spa, despite a first corner incident that showed up his lack of experience. Boullier says: “I was more than happy to see all my people in the garage applauding at the end of Q2 and Q3 with a smile on their face. It was the first time that had happened since Malaysia. It is important to have your people, who work all day and all night, be happy.”
