You’re listening to F1Minute - Frank Williams steps down from Williams Board.

The Williams Grand Prix organisation announced a reshuffle of their board members today with the news that Sir Frank Williams has stepped down, and his daughter Claire Williams will step up as Director of Marketing and Communications. Claire has been part of the team for more than a decade, and has been responsible for PR and Media duties in the recent past.

Frank Williams spoke of the new appointment with delight, saying: “It’s no secret that Claire is my daughter but I am proud to say that she has fought hard to earn this appointment.”

He also talked of his decision to take a back seat, adding: “I turn 70 in April and I have decided to signal the next stage in the gradual but inevitable process of handing over the reins to the next generation.”

Frank has already admitted that Adam Parr would be a very likely successor to his position, but points out that he will remain as Team Principal for the forseeable future.
