Force India have finally got the VJM-08 up and running, on the second day of the second test at Barcelona, and with just three days of running available. Nico Hülkenberg got behind the wheel for the first run of the new car, with an installation lap just before the lunch break, and then a full 77 laps by the end of the day. Chief Race Engineer Tom McCullough admits it was a big effort to get the car ready in time, and they’re just grateful to have had a solid first day.
Another thankful team is McLaren, with Jenson Button completing over 100 laps on the second day of the test. After another pitiful score of seven on the opening day, Button managed to complete the century and get some serious data back to the team. He finished fifth on the timesheets at the end of the day.
Mercedes topped the times, with Nico Rosberg putting the hammer down and showing what the team have in their tanks. Many believe it to be an ominous sign with Christian Horner going so far as to say it was “depressing.”
