Welcome to F1Minute - Force India prepare to take the fight to Renault in Japan.
Although both 2011 championships are well on their way to being sewn up by Red Bull, there is still plenty of battling going on further down the order. Renault are currently sitting fifth in the Constructor’s Championship, with 70 points, and behind them, Force India are catching rapidly. There are 22 points between them, and Adrian Sutil believes there’s still plenty of time for his team to catch up.
He says: “We have to work on it, of course, to stay concentrated and calm, but it’s always good to be in a stronger position at the end of a season... We have seen it last year, it was hard to defend our position and we lost it by one point, so hopefully this year we win it by one point to Renault. It is still possible.”
Meanwhile, Sauber have dropped behind Force India to sit seventh in the standings, and have 12 points to overcome. Sergio Pérez is feeling positive about the upcomi ng race, though, saying: “We’re bringing a big update here so hopefully it works and we can move ahead. Singapore was a very good weekend for Force India, so we want to score very big points here to try and catch them up.”
