The Force India team have revealed that they won’t be sending their 2015 car to the first week of testing in Barcelona, having previously hoped to see the VJM08 make its debut there at the next test. They’ve already missed four days of testing in Jerez, but consoled themselves with the knowledge that of the three opportunities, Jerez was the least relevant.

Now they will participate in the second week of testing at the Spanish track of Barcelona, but will be bringing their 2014 car as work continues on the new machinery back at the factory. There’s a certain irony in that, given that Force India are one of the main outspoken voters against the return of the Marussia cars this year, using year-old machinery.

However, despite the ongoing delays to Force India’s 2015 car launch, the team are confident they will be ready to go in Melbourne, if not the final week of testing in Barcelona. Deputy team principal Bob Fernley is quoted as saying: “Testing time with the new car will be limited but we are doing everything possible to make sure we arrive in Australia in reasonable shape.”
