Nico Hülkenberg has agreed an extension to his contract with the Force India team for another season, embarking on his third year with the Silverstone based squad. This time last year, Hülkenberg was one of the names being touted for a role at the bigger teams, Ferrari, Lotus as they were in 2013, or McLaren, but he ended up staying in the midfield after moving across from Sauber.
Nico continues that journey, but is resigned, if not happy, with the decision, saying: “It’s good to confirm my plans for next season. This is a team I know extremely well and we’ve enjoyed a great year together with some special results. The team has big ambitions and I believe we can have a competitive package once again next year.”
The special results he’s talking about this year include a string of points finishes from Australia through to Germany, but none yet higher than fifth place. Hülkenberg is currently eighth in the championship.
