The fourth and final day of testing at the Jerez circuit came to a delayed end, when the afternoon session had to be extended due to a problem with the track. Emergency repairs had to be made to the track around lunchtime after a hole appeared at the side of the tarmac, adding an extra challenge for the drivers!
Meanwhile, Kimi Räikkönen was the fastest driver of the day, just squeezing ahead of Jules Bianchi in the Force India. Bianchi again reiterated his belief he’s ready for a race seat, but was forced to hand the car back to the team’s only signed driver Paul di Resta.
Lewis Hamilton returned to the Mercedes car after his aborted attempt at testing on Wednesday, and he managed 145 laps which made up for some lost time.
Pedro de la Rosa was also in action for Ferrari, making his debut as test driver for the Scuderia, and finishing the day ninth out of twelve participants. Testing is done for now, but will resume in Barcelona on the 19th February.
