Whilst confirming the launch date for their 2014 car, Ferrari have offered up a unique opportunity for fans. The new machinery will be unveiled on 25th January in an online launch, and fans get to choose the names and numbers that the chassis will be identified by.
An online vote gives five separate options - F14 T, F14 Maranello, F14 Scuderia, F166 Turbo or F616 - and you get to choose, either via the Ferrari website or their social networks.
Ferrari have always strayed from the more consistent numbering path that most teams choose. Where Red Bull have won championships with the RB6, RB7, RB8 and RB9, Ferrari have attempted to stop them with the F10, the 150° Italia, the F2012 and the F138. There’s not a huge amount of consistency there, so the vote is a great way of getting fans involved. I’m disappointed that the choice is limited, I think Christine would be a great name for a car.
