This is F1Minute - Fernando Alonso and Ferrari believe a tough task is ahead.
Scuderia Ferrari started the year feeling confident and bullish about their chances for 2012. However, a s the pre-season testing has come and gone, there has been a gradual decline in positive comments coming out of Maranello. However, Fernando Alonso has told his team not to despair and that the season is a long one.
On the official Ferrari website, the Spaniard was quoted as saying: “We have to stay cool and calm and take one step at a time, starting with the race in Melbourne... Once we know where we stand, then we can set ourselves more precise targets.”
He added that they do need to improve, and the car is a bit harder to drive, but they are well on the way to understanding the issues and developing their way out of them.
Meanwhile, team boss Stefano Domenicali is in agreement with his star driver, saying: “We still need to wait a few days before knowing where we stand... I’m convinced that we will be in the fight and we will be there right to the end.”
