Welcome to F1Minute - Felipe’s 100th outing for Ferrari.
The upcoming race in Brazil signals the end of the 2011 season, and it also holds some extra significance for Felipe Massa. It brings his tenth year as an F1 racing driver to a close, and will be his 100th race for Ferrari.
Although he’s racking up the race starts, Massa is keen to point out that it doesn’t mean he’s over the hill, saying: “Fortunately, I am still young and there is more to come, but ten years is still a landmark in an F1 driver’s career.”
He also adds that there is some pressure on the weekend ahead, saying: “Putting it all together, ten years of Formula 1, one hundred races with Ferrari and all of it at home in Brazil, makes this something really special for me. It will be an emotional time and what I would like to add to it all would be a good result come Sunday afternoon.”
Team boss Luca di Montezemolo, however, is looking ahead to next year already, speaking in an interview on Italian radio: “We expect great things from him in 2012, and then we’ll decide how to proceed. Let’s say he’ll have to prove himself next season.”
