Welcome to F1Minute - Button and Maldonado lead wet practice in Germany.

Conditions over the Hockenheim circuit were damp, with rain falling on and off throughout the first session. The two McLaren drivers were fastest, Jenson Button ahead of Lewis Hamilton, with Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher behind.

Meanwhile, it was the domain of Friday drivers once more with Valtteri Bottas in at Williams, Jules Bianchi at Force India and Dani Clos at HRT. Notably, Mark Webber was down in 20th, with no real problems apparent on the car.

Second practice at Hockenheim got off to a wet start, with drivers reluctant to leave the garage. As the track dried, Pastor Maldonado shot to the top of the times, just before the rain started again. With half an hour of session time left, a few braver drivers headed out but found it hard to keep on track.

Daniel Ricciardo beached his Toro Rosso in the gravel, but that wasn't as bad as Michael Schumacher who brought the session to an early end. He crashed the Mercedes, damaging the rear of the car quite badly, and causing a red flag. Maldonado finished on top, then, with Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel behind.
