Welcome to F1Minute - Button believes Hamilton’s Mercedes move is the wrong one.
Jenson Button came under criticism when he decided to move from the championship-winning Brawn team to his current home at McLaren for the 2010 season, but now all that attention is focused on the outgoing Lewis Hamilton.
Button has reportedly said of Hamilton’s move to Mercedes for next season, “He has chosen to go his own way at the end of the year. It is his decision, although I personally don’t think it is the right decision.” He has previously said he can understand the desire for a new challenge though, so perhaps it is mixed feelings for everyone involved.
Meanwhile, McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has hailed Hamilton’s determination in the Korean GP yesterday as something they should all try. He said: “Just as Lewis did not give up in Korea, that should be the inspiration for the team. We’re going to be fighting the final four races. We can win those races and that is all we can try and do.”
McLaren have slipped to third in the constructor’s championship now, with 83 points between themselves and leaders Red Bull.
